Overview

Maka Batiashvili was born in 1975 and is a graduate of the Tbilisi Academy of Fine Arts (1997).

She specialises in oil paintings, graphics, installation and video works.

Maka takes her inspiration from moments of mundane reality and transforms them into important visual images in which her protagonists are on the verge of an action or event, and where it is important to maintain an equilibrium. Behind the seeming naivete of Maka’s paintings there is an intensity of emotion through which she tries to convey the fundamental themes of humanity such as love, happiness, fear, joy and hope.

Maka’s works are dominated by bright colours and simple composition, fixing in perpetuity everyday happenings which would otherwise, pass unnoticed.

Maka Batiashvili exhibits her works both nationally and internationally.
