KATE REYNOLDS, British
“The impulse in my work is to create ceramic pieces, which are simple in outline and capture and evoke an essence of a face or head”, says the artist.
Kate Reynolds studied 3D Design at Brighton Polytechnic, later she achieved Master’s Degree in Ceramics at Cardiff University.
“I love ancient cultural objects for their simplicity of materials and their imagery. I also admire the free spirit of the Charleston group of artists.
With the essence of these artefacts in mind, my ceramic forms, are mostly concerned with the figure and the head. I paint and pour slips and glazes, playing with figurative and decorative designs. I invariably like to experiment, to try something unpredictable so its always exciting opening the
kiln.”
