Overview
Frances Knight is a contemporary landscape artist working mainly in oils. She paints outside on location directly from nature, and then works on larger paintings from these studies once back in the studio. Interested in the interplay between abstraction and representation, she seeks to express an inner dialogue between subjective experience and objective reality. Her paintings are a joyful experience of light , colour and atmosphere.
After graduating from Camberwell School of Art, Frances won a British Council & Commonwealth scholarship to complete her MFA in India. She paints the Sussex and Hampshire landscapes and has shown works regularly at the Arundel Gallery Trail since 2009. Recently Frances has exhibited at the Chelsea Arts Society’s Annual Summer Exhibition and at the South Downs Open. Frances also travels widely to paint in many different countries. She visits Provence and the Netherlands and has painted in Alsace, Mallorca, Tuscany, India and the USA.
Her paintings are collected internationally.
